About the Department
Valley Performing Arts Center (VPAC) includes two venues, a 500-seat auditorium, and the new 1700-seat state of the art proscenium theater/concert hall. VPAC presents about 50 performances per year of world-class artists of all genres and disciplines. Located in the nation's second largest market, Los Angeles, VPAC operates at the highest level of professional and artistic excellence.

Major Duties
Under general supervision of the Production Administrator, the Hospitality Service Specialist works to meet the needs of visiting artists and clients in the areas of backstage hospitality and performance support at the Valley Performing Arts Center. The incumbent is in charge of cultivating an excellent hospitality experience for visiting artists, guests and renters in the backstage areas; reviews VPAC artists' advance documents for all hospitality needs, including food, backstage access, and similar requirements; coordinates artists' guest lists, including comp tickets, parking, and backstage access; works with VPAC clients (renters) to ensure that their hospitality is in compliance with VPAC and campus policy and procedures; hires, trains and supervises a small group of pooled hospitality staff; assists in tracking expenses for hospitality; assists with artist housing and travel; and performs other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of full-time experience working in a fast-paced hospitality environment for a theater, hotel, restaurant, large assembly venue, or similar facility; two years of experience preferred. Food Service Manager Certification (preferred), CPR Certification (preferred), and Alcohol Safety Training (preferred).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Thorough knowledge of applicable procedures and regulations related to hospitality industry. Knowledge of proper food handling, sanitation, and safety in the work place. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, EventPro and Jolt. Demonstrated experience and/or skills in leading a group of staff on a task or goal. Demonstrated good customer service and public relation skills, with the ability to work under pressure of deadlines and with a wide variety or personalities in the execution of events. 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
The university offers an excellent benefits package. 

The salary range for this classification is: $2790 - $4620 per month. 
The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $3167 - $3500 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Hours: Full Time; 40 hours per week; will include evenings, weekends, and approved overtime.

REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
