Irvine, California

ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT OF DEVELOPMENT AND MAJOR GIFTS - Pacific Symphony seeks a second-in-command for its 12-member development department who will play a significant role in the management of the department while also maintaining direct responsibility for a sizable portfolio of high level donors and prospects.  The ideal candidate will be a seasoned fundraising executive who has a passion for music and its transformative power in the community, possesses the ability to communicate its value directly to givers in a way that inspires them to support it through contributions at the highest levels, is highly-skilled at overseeing an organization’s entire fund development process, takes great pride in being able to organize, lead and motivate teams of staff members and volunteers, embraces the challenge of problem-solving in a fast-paced high-pressure environment, has the confidence and eagerness to achieve ambitious fundraising goals ($11.5 million annual fund), and brings the expertise necessary to help the organization reach a whole new level of fund development prowess. This is an ideal career advancement opportunity for a chief development officer at a mid-sized orchestra or arts organization, or for a senior major gifts officer in a large organization ready to take on the additional challenge of a departmental leadership position.  Familiarity with the Orange County philanthropic landscape is highly desirable, as is a love for classical music, but candidates with senior-level experience and a proven track record of success from outside this community or the orchestra industry are encouraged to apply.

Please submit your cover letter, resume and one personally-authored writing sample (case statement, annual fund appeal letter, or personal solicitation letter are preferred) to the search consultant, Richard Stein, President & CEO, Arts Orange County (Orange County’s nonprofit local arts agency) via e-mail only (please use “AVP Search” in the subject line) to: rstein@artsoc.org  A full position description will be provided to well-qualified applicants.
