Production and Operations Manager
San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory

The San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory (SDYS) is seeking a full-time Production and Operations Manager to lead the production of events and internal operations of the organization. S/he will prioritize and balance many responsibilities in a fast-paced environment and be committed to our core values of inclusiveness, personal achievement, and community leadership.

Position Responsibilities

The Production and Operations Manager is part of the SDYS leadership team and responsible for the following:

  • Season planning and timelines

  • The smooth running of all concerts through coordinating with venues, scheduling staff effectively, and supporting artistic faculty to create a positive performance experience for student musicians.

  • The fulfillment of a welcoming and efficient rehearsal environment for student musicians, their families, and visitors to Balboa Park.

  • Short-term operational needs including facilities, technology, and administration.  

  • Relevant budgets and supervision of multiple part-time employees.

Qualifications

We’re seeking candidates who excel in organization and planning and are excited by challenges.  You should have or be:

  • 3+ years of production and operations experience; 5+ years preferred.

  • A track record of managing multiple, competing deadlines.

  • Interest and ability to work with young people and families.

  • Strong sense of integrity and collaboration.

  • Able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 40 pounds in/out of trucks and across rooms/buildings for rehearsal and event needs.

  • Comfortable renting and driving large trucks to transport instruments and equipment, as well as transporting items for concerts and events in a personal vehicle.

  • Comfortable using Microsoft and Google applications, especially spreadsheets.

  • College degree required.
