California Organizations Rewarded for "ArtPlace-making"
Six California organizations received large grants from ArtPlace to support their use of the arts to improve quality of place and transform their communities. Projects from Los Angeles to San Jose to Modesto (one of eight rural locations) were recognized. ArtPlace received almost 2200 letters of inquiry from organizations seeking the go-ahead to apply for a portion of the $15.4 million available in this cycle. Inquiries came from 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
