Arts License Plate Fees Are Now Charitable Deductions, Says Tax Agency

A recent clarification from a state tax agency could be a significant boon for the arts in the state. California Arts License Plate fees are charitable deductions to the State of California for tax purposes, according to the Franchise Tax Board. The clarification comes just in time for the holidays and end-of-year charitable planning and serves as a platform to launch a goal of affixing one million new arts plates to California cars.

California Arts Council now on Facebook, Twitter

Governor and First Lady first to tweet "Million Plates for the Arts!"

The California Arts Council's Facebook and Twitter pages launched about a week ago, just in time for Governor Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver to "tweet" about the tax-deductibility of the Arts License Plate fees and propose "One Million Plates for the Arts!" (One million plates would mean $40 million for the arts.) Become a fan of us on Facebook and post something on our wall, or start following us on Twitter. Stay tuned -- much more to come from the California Arts Council through the Web 2.0 social networking tools.

The Arts Council's Email is Back Up and Running

Some of you may have noticed our "Under Repair" sign on our homepage concerning our email, or noticed the absence of The California ArtBeat in your inbox last month. The California Arts Council experienced some technical glitches with a computer server for our email system this fall, but we're back up and running. Our apologies if we missed an email or two during that time -- and feel free to check in with our staff again if you think we missed something. Stay tuned for our regularly scheduled California ArtBeat issues as well. Questions and concerns can be emailed to webmaster@cac.ca.gov
