Gearing up for California Arts Day -- Planning something that you'd like to share? Post your event!

This year marks the ninth annual California Arts Day on Friday, October 2. Slated for the first Friday in October and corresponding with National Arts and Humanities Month, California Arts Day coordinates the creative energy and love of the arts in the state to celebrate the arts as one community. The web form to post Arts Day events just went up this week -- submit your creative plans for California Arts Day!

Arts Day at the State Fair on Saturday, August 29

The California Arts Council will join the California State Fair for the fifth annual "Arts Day at the Fair" on Saturday, August 29, 2009. Festivities include chalk-art murals, performances by talented youth, a visual-arts "treasure hunt" for kids of all ages, plein air painters creating their work live, and a Golden Bear "Artist of the Year" Award presentation and special exhibit for sculptor Clayton Bailey (who builds life-sized robot sculptures) and painter Fredric Dalkey (painter who will have his second retrospective at the Crocker Art Museum in the Fall).
